About
Eva |
Thank you
for visiting my website and showing interest in Frennet
Studio's photography services. I’m Eva Frenzel, the sole
photographer behind Frennet Studio. |
Many
clients often ask about the origin of the name "Frennet
Studio." It was my husband, Pierre, who came up with the
idea for our private website years ago. "FREN"
represents our last name, Frenzel, while "NET" stands
for the internet. |
Originally from Slovakia (formerly Czechoslovakia), I
moved to the United States when my husband, who is
German, relocated to South Carolina in 2007. Fountain
Inn has since become our home, where we raise our two
children, Franka (17) and Henrik (15). In 2018, I
officially embraced the U.S. as my adopted country. |
My
passion for photography began at the age of seven when I
received my first film camera. I fondly remember helping
my dad in his darkroom as he developed his photos.
Photography runs in my family; my dad learned from his
father, who took pictures during World War II while
serving as a pilot. |

If I could,
I would be taking photos around the clock. When I'm
behind the lens, I lose all sense of time. At events, I
constantly see “must-capture moments,” and I often have
to negotiate with my family to leave my cameras and
tripod in my suitcase. After missing the chance to
photograph a historic rocket launch, I promised myself I
would never leave without my camera gear again. |
Additional to my other academic degrees, I graduated from the New York Institute of
Photography in 2011. |
Beyond my
passion for photography, I enjoy spending time with my
family and engaging in activities like traveling,
swimming, cycling, running, skiing, hiking, playing
tennis, windsurfing, kayaking, camping, and reading. |
|
Two of my
guiding life mottos are: |
"Give 100%, or do not do it at all." |
"Enjoy every moment of your life." |

Portraits |
During
portrait sessions, whether on location or in your home,
I aim to make your time enjoyable and focused on family
bonding while listening to your favorite music. My goal
is to capture the true essence of each client, and one
of my guiding mottos is: "Just be yourself." Everyone is
beautiful, and the key to excellent portraiture lies in
proper posing, lighting, and wardrobe choices. I
recommend opting for solid colors and avoiding patterns.
For family sessions, coordinating in a single color or
two complementary colors creates a lovely sense of unity
in the photos. |
I believe a
family photo session should be a positive experience,
especially for the little ones. From my experience, the
best photos of young children are taken when they are
allowed to play and do not even realize they are being
photographed. Speaking of little ones, just last week
during a family session, I called a 5-year-old client
“Baby,” and he promptly corrected me: “I’m not a baby
anymore, I’m five!” No matter how much they grow,
whether I’m capturing their senior photos or their
engagement sessions, my little clients always stay
children for me and they all always hold a special place
in my heart. |
I am
always amazed at how much my clients change in just a
year. I often wish time would slow down. Before a
session with new clients, I like to learn more about you
and your family, your children ages, interests, and
favorite colors. This helps me prepare the right props
and set the theme that best reflects your family’s
personality. For families with children aged newborn to
3-4 years, I recommend having the session at home, where
your little ones feel most comfortable. This way, we can
capture their true personalities without the stress of
traveling. |
During
the session, I begin with traditional and formal poses
before letting creativity take over. I always write down
the ideas beforehand because, while editing, I sometimes
realize we missed out on poses and have not created the
photos I had envisioned. |
When on location,
I prefer to utilize natural light and reflectors,
especially during afternoon sessions, to capture the
warm, enchanting glow of South Carolina sunsets. I love
to showcase the magical colors in your photos, as well
as the deep emotional connections within your family. I
always look for what I call the “hand connection” |

Light |
Light is
my paint, and I prefer to avoid scheduling portrait
sessions during midday unless it is for a special event
or on a cloudy day. Harsh sunlight creates unflattering
facial shadows and results in high contrast scenes,
making the hours between 10 AM and 4 PM on sunny days
less than ideal for portraiture. The best conditions
occur on overcast days, as clouds act like a natural
softbox. |
I
typically offer morning sessions around 8 AM or late
afternoon sessions around 5 PM (in summer). From my
experience, morning sessions are preferable. Clients
tend to be more relaxed and energized, and at 8 AM on
Sundays, many of my favorite locations, like Cedar Falls
Park, downtown Greenville, Fountain Inn, and
Simpsonville, are less crowded, allowing us the privacy
and space to create beautiful images. |
During studio
setups, I work with both strobe and continuous lighting,
including softboxes and umbrellas, as well as gels for
colorful effects. On location, I primarily use available
light, reflectors, and either on-camera flash or
strobes. |

Weddings and Events |
|
For
wedding and event coverage, I like to scout the location
24 hours in advance, at the same time the ceremony or
event will take place, to assess the lighting
conditions. With weddings and events, you have just one
chance to capture those unique moments that will never
happen again. |
I come
equipped with portable strobes, lights, and backdrops,
allowing me to set up a studio anywhere—indoors or
outdoors. Whether it’s a wedding, family reunion, or
another special event, I know how much energy you invest
in planning every detail with love and care. You deserve
to have the outcome of your efforts beautifully
captured, so you can enjoy the moment and share those
memories with your children, grandchildren, and future
generations. |
I always
remind my clients that this is YOUR BIG DAY, focused
entirely on the bride and groom. As your photographer, I
will be there for you throughout the celebration, with
the exception of the ceremony itself, during which I’ll
use a long lens to respect this special moment. |
I always say to my clients before the wedding, this is
YOUR BIG DAY, THE DAY JUST ABOUT THE BRIDE AND GROOM and
as a photographer, I will be with you the whole time.
Only exception is the ceremony, when I use the long lens
not to disturb this sacred moment. |

Developing Your
Photos |
|
I capture
photos in RAW format, ensuring that all your images are
digitally developed. This process is similar to
traditional film development, but it takes place in a
digital darkroom. Depending on the season, your photo
package, including a USB flash drive with all digital
images, a Copyright Release Form, and a few prints
(oops, I spoiled the surprise now), will typically be
developed, edited, and ready within 1 to 2 weeks after
the photo session or event coverage. |
I also
provide sneak peek photos within 24 hours, usually sent
via private Facebook message, allowing you to receive
high-resolution digital files at 3000 pixels. |

photo printing. |

|
Style |
|
As a
traditionalist, I strive to minimize manipulation of
photos with graphic software. My approach is influenced
by my film-era experience, and I believe in the
principle of "getting it right in the camera." This is
why it sometimes takes a bit longer to manually set the
exposure and achieve the desired effect with my DSLR
camera during the session, which I consider my
"paintbrush." |
My style
blends traditional, artistic, and photojournalistic
elements, especially for events and weddings. |
|
I invite
you to explore my previous work and a few samples from
my portfolio, as every photographer and artist has a
unique perspective and style. |
I’d like
to conclude this introduction with the definition:
"Photography is painting with light." I cannot wait to
meet you and capture those special moments, using my
lenses and camera to create memories that you and your
family will cherish forever. |
